Got a 106MM RR casing on Craigslist.

Marked M344A1 HEAT CRTG. Date stamp of 1975. Also marked for M40A1. I paid $25 and it was only a few minutes from me.

Now I just need a projectile, powder, and a recoilless rifle. Will look good next to my practice 155mm howitzer projectile.

Could you tell me under what heading you found it. Been looking for one, even bid on one on E-Bay but E-Bay pulled the action.

Thanks

Searching Craigslist can be a little tedious but it doesn't have to be. You can use Google (or Microsoft's Bing) search and simply type in "craigslist 106MM" and it'll search all cities (not just your local one). I did this and quickly found the shell in question.

I also saw this website that has complete inert 106MM shells for sale. "Price on Request" though likely translates to "EXPENSIVE":

I located mine by using http://www.searchtempest.com. I have not tried the google or bing search but will. I search the word "military" in my local area to look for stuff. Searchtempest opens seperate windows for each area within a specified search radius. I usually use 250 miles.

HA! No... but that did make me think. I just measured my access to the backyard and the Mule's 49-inch width is a little too wide to get through to the backyard :D

The Mule is a wonderful vehicle. It was back then and still is. I may have posted this pic from 1968 of my gunship team going to the aircraft but in case i didn't here it is.

If you get serious, go for the four wheel steering which was standard in some variants, but can be added to others. The two cylinder engine is similar to the small mil generators and parts are readily available as opposed to the first versions that had a four cyl engine, parts for which I hear are difficult to find. Some even had magnesium beds.
Besides Mules of America, the other dealer is Dave Kelone, dkelone@aol.com
1-309-696-7080 Ohio based as I recall.
I got mine from Dave and he has extremely helpful with the few problems I had with mine over the years, bad fuel, etc-and he has a much better starter for example than the original {not the hand rope / lawnmower style one, but the the late mil mod that also came with an alternator and battery}.
You can get one from him as you want it, complete rebuild, partial restoration, as found, etc and he has parts.
I wish there was a forum on the Mule like this one, but I haven't found it yet.

Top: Try the forum over at Steel Soldiers, they have a Mule thread. Have no idea how good it is but it's there.

Hey Top, I know how much you love the 503 but they have a mule forum. By the way, had a great time in Virginia. Got to get some pictures up.
