Leatherwood was a funny and interesting man. He would come by my dad's office and friends work places with a rubber maid box full of stuff and hand around and chat. Scopes, guns parts, interesting militaria and so forth all to be had. He really enjoyed flirting with my dad's secretary.

Raymond - Yes, indeed, they are. In fact, that is the only mod to make a flash suppressor "NM". It seems that raindrops hanging on the tines can actually affect accuracy. An apparently, it rains more often than not at Camp Perry during the National Match, thus leading to the mod. Or so I have heard. I would imagine if your bullet squirmed enough to strike the suppressor, that would be the least of your worries.

I would imagine the reaming process was just to eliminate any worries from production tolerance discrepancies, though the "raindrop" rationale is 100% legit.

LOL makes sence to me..


I have one of those E2 pistol grip stocks on mine and a bipod some pace rusting away...
the selector would be a good looking mod on the stock..
like that idea.

I know, I think the rationale is more a large drop (or drops) bucking the bullet into an out of tolerance suppressor right at the muzzle.

Anyway, I don't really think it matters except to avoid a poorly manufactured supressor pinging a bullet, rain or no rain. I have a great book on M14 accurizing, I will take a look and see what the stated rationale is.
