M60 toy Parade use only

Unread post by poof » March 13th, 2011, 12:14 am

I looked and looked for Dummy M60 to mount on top of jeep.. some were all real parts welded up and looked like crap.. and expencive.. some were works of art.. and were way expencive.. so I setteled on an Airsoft M60. for just over $361.85 delivered after discounts and free shipping..
never saw it in person.. but when it arrived.. WOW.. it is all metal and breaks down like real one ,weighs in at about 3 lbs less that real one... with out bolt.
the blaze orange F/H has to stay for now.. till i read up on the state laws here.. I didnt buy a battery or 6mm BB ammo for it.. but now wish I had.. at 400fps and 450rounds per min.. on full auto.. it might have kept the pigion Poop off my vehicles in the barn well
came with an soft side ammo belt pouch not pictured
I plan on cutting up a C-rat can for the feed shout.
I will post a picture later on in spring time when its mounted.. I worked on the USGI mount a bit to fit it .. its not quite all in spec.. and there is no hook in the foward inside the hand guard for it to attach too.. minor detail.
I would like to score a real m60 sling and a spare barrle bag to hang on the pedistal too

Hey,

VERY interested in what it took to make it fit the mount. Thats been my hold up on ordering one. More info and pictures please :D .

I have two M249 SAWs that are airsoft and they needed modification to fit the USGI mounts also... PITA :?

hay dan. here are some pictures..
the one is a pencil stuck in there for refrence. the back of the mount just took some tickleing to open hole up a bit to fit.. the front of mount I took about 1/8" off(inside surface) till it would drop in and be paralell with front grip..
I plan for now to just use a Wide black Zip--tie(maybe 2) through the upper heat shield and over barrel then back down and around the mount..
I will ad a piece of high dencity foam between hand guard and mount then pull zip-tie tight on it.
I will notch the mount as wide as the ziptie is also.
Get what I mean? hope it works on the M249 saw too. it also keeps the gun secured to the mount . i plan on keeping the two together any way.. and make it more difficult to just grab for a thief.

That AirSoft M60 looks very nice. I just got a replica .50 Cal and would like an M60 as well. Thanks for posting it.

I just picked up the same M60. So far I removed the pin that the mount clamps to and reduced it's diameter by .005" so that the mount would snap on. The space between the frame tabs that the pin goes through is .060" too wide, so that will go on the milling machine to remove .030" from each side. I should point out that I have the mount that goes to the M2 Tripod. I don't have a pedestal cradle yet. When I get the mount shown, I will probably do a further mod to the gun rather than the GI parts which I don't want to ruin for real M60 use. No hurry to get it done because I will mount the .50 cal for this season. Thanks for the review of the A&K. I got mine from Airsoft GI as well.

BTW my M60 came with the orange plastic M-16-looking flashider so I ordered the steel M60 type one from a place in Hong Kong only to find one in the battery box. :( My bad. It's only money. Also, it's a 14mm left-hand thread and may be the same as an AK47. If so, I can put the extra one on the AK. That ought to keep them guessing. :D

Boss,

If you do not want the second brake, we have one of these guns on our Huey that has a broken plastic brake that a guest broke and are in the market for a steel one, please let me know if you want to sell it.

BTW - in the fine print for the law governing the orange muzzle tips it states that if you are a historical re-enactor or stage or movie type person or company that you are exempt from the display of the orange muzzle tip. Like all government documents intended to help us simple minded folks, the truth is there if you dig for it deep enough.

I will look for my original file that shows this section of the bill.

I hope I did this right. I never posted a pic here before. The .50 cal. cost $650.00 and I got it at the Boxboro flea market in the Spring. Pic is not that great as it was taken with my phone.
