There is only ONE thing I would change in an MG42 and that is some kind of selector which would allow a slower rate of fire when needed. Other than THAT...a perfect belt fed machine gun. Even THAT HIGH rate of fire....does not diminish the perfect light machine gun that the MG42 is. If I were going into combat tomorrow it would be my weapon of choice.
