Postby hifly75 » February 25th, 2015, 2:02 pm

Hello. I am thinning out my collection and have a very rare one of a kind item. I know it is not m151 but it is very cool. Its a MARK 56 MOD 0 FRONT TWIN 50 CAL GUN TURRET OUT OF A VIETNAM RIVER PATROL BOAT. TURRET IS IN GREAT SHAPE AND NOT AS BIG AS U THINK. ITS ABOUT 52IN ROUND AND ABOUT THE SAME TALL AND MOSTLY ALUMINIUM. WILL FIT ON 4X4 PALLET. JUST LIKE THE ONE IN APOCALYPSE NOW. LANCE THE SURFER ON THE FOWARD 50s. 6,500 OBO. MIGHT CONSIDER SOME TRADE. I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANOTHER ONE. PM ME I CAN SEND PICS . THANKS

I am guessing you may hear from Mr. Pizzaferatto on this one since he has one of those boats.

Is this the Mod 0 mount that you were discussing with Dennis Ambruso (PBR 721) and I (PBR 6927) several months ago? If it is, you know our opinion of the incomplete mount. You're asking about $3000 more than what the going rate was 5 years ago for a complete mount.

A very limited pool of potential purchasers for such an item to begin with. The PBR owners community is a small, connected group. There are currently 3 operational PBRs in private hands in the US with a few more in the works. Everyone has their forward mount. Most of the mounts, including mine, are MOD 1 mounts. This MOD 0 mount would be a good candidate for parts to retrofit a MOD 1 back to a MOD 0. As it was missing some major components, most notably the slewing ring (large full diameter ring gear that ran the traverse function), it will never be an operational mount. As a connected small community, we assessed this mount and shared with our group. All of the MOD 0 parts on it, although not readily available, could be found for less than $2000.

If this is in fact a different mount than previously discussed, as noted above, then please provide further details. Maybe someone in our group would have an interest in making a realistic offer.
