I was reading a little bit more about the AR-15 and educate myself. Seems like our little jeeps this a platform going on since forever.
When I was in the Army and when we ran across US forces at some maneuver, we were always jealous about the M16. We had the heavy H&K G3, the M16 was much lighter and it had the carrying handle the G3 did not. So with that past experience I found it for example interesting to see that the newer AR-15 uppers don't have that handle any more but rather a flat platform to equip them with all kinds of sighting crap. But of course, the old style upper is still available and one can build so many different variations of that weapon.
Still, when building one, apparently the rules are different for different states and something that is perfectly legal in Idaho is reason to go to jail in California. Something I never will understand...
