M4 mount
I know this is probably a stupid question, but I'm going to ask anyway.
Why is the M4 mount post in 2 pieces? I get the chain to keep from losing the one of the two pieces but don't get why it would be separable.
When the cradle is removed, the canvas top fits just fine. There must be a viable reason.

Re: M4 mount
I bet that was a guess. If that were true, the legs would be shorter?

"Also, the 13-inch section above the support leg bracket was made removable from the XM4 pedestal column to permit air delivery from the AC-I aircraft"

Re: M4 mount
Wasn't a guess. Was that maybe an earlier version that was superseded by a one piece later on? Once ROPS was instituted that height limitation was moot. A lot of the M4 pedestals I have seen do not have that removable section.

Re: M4 mount
Think about it. prior to rops the M151 was shipped with the windshields stowed. Anything above that would be in the way.

Re: M4 mount
I thought about the was down and getting the 151 either shipped or airdropped. That's believeable.
I guess i thought shipping ment to put it in a box( the Assy alone in a box ) wasn't a realistic guess. I get folding the Ws down, stacking and shipping the whole 151 sounds reasonable.I too have seen one piece M4s as well, in fact I own both. That's what prompted the question.
Thanks for the replies.
