Look what followed me home...

Unread post by Shotgun » August 21st, 2016, 1:01 pm

1967 M151A1 in original condition - I picked this up a few weeks ago and it came with a lot of spare parts and a nice trailer. The owner made some modifications that are some good practical ideas, and doesn't really detract from the original look, but I might take some of it back to original. It's had an M4 pedestal mounted once in its life as there are holes for it, so the best way to prevent any rust is to cover those holes - with an M4 mount when I can find a reasonably priced one!

The NDCC tires were pretty worn, and some regular radials are on them for now, but I might get a set of NDCC in the future. It also came with some of the deep water fording parts, but I need to order the complete kit as there are too many missing small parts anyways. It came with a top on, but I removed it for the trip back, and with the extra parts came a complete spare vinyl top, doors, and side curtains. When it gets cooler, I will put the top on, but still keep the pioneer tools locked up until it's really needed - no need to tempt people right? It's titled, so now I have to get it titled and registered in my state and get an inspection done.

This is my second MV, the first one is an M422A1 I bought from Austringer (Jason) that was in fair condition / not running and missing the seat bottoms at the time of purchase. He is sending me those and once I receive them at least I can sit in it properly and can start on that project!

Loading everything in the truck and using a u-haul trailer was a pain, and if I had some air shocks, the ride would have been better. The PO helped me load the M416 in the back of the bed upside down on the second run because he wasn't sure of the wheel bearing condition (helped save some toll costs too) and I picked up additional parts.

I want to get some bumper numbers painted on it as well as a hood number and US ARMY so it will give it a nicer appearance. The hood was replaced as the underside is a different color (outside matches body paint) and it was repainted a long time ago, as you can barely see previously stenciled info.

Thanks csmith,
Looking forward to fooling around with this jeep. Just got the trailer downloaded, and it's made in 1969 and it will need more attention to get it to 10-20 standards than the jeep.

Interesting plate holder on the front bumper of your A1, can you post some close up photos?

Hey csmith,
Sorry for the delay, I'm taking a college course and it's killing me right now (midterm exams) - I think I'm getting brain damage from too much studying, but the GI Bill helps LOL.

Doesn't look home made but factory made, and I'd like to find another one for the rear. If I can't find one, I'm thinking of a U.S. Army Retired plate and call it a day.
