Getting ready for local night parade

Re: Getting ready for local night parade
I've mounted a single mid-range military speaker on the center of the trailer. I may yet add the higher range speakers to the sides.
Check out the height of that pole. The top of Snoopy's head is going to be more that three feet above that!

Re: Getting ready for local night parade
Yeah, the doghouse gets lined and it gets bullet holes as well. I'm not looking forward to painting those lines. I'll probably get into that phase tonight after I find a suitable brush.
Re: Getting ready for local night parade
So, I went directly to Plan C with the speakers which should have been Plan A to save time and aggravation.
Added chicken wire to support the felt used to cover the float.
I buy zip-ties by the case! Projects such as this require speed and flexibility. Zip-ties make that happen.
And since I use as much recycled/repurposed material as I can to save money, this is what some of the inner workings end up looking like...

Painting the lines....all freehand. The irregularities are there on purpose because if you look at Charles Schultz's drawings, his lines are irregular too!
And Rick's bullet holes!
And the lettering....also freehand!

Re: Getting ready for local night parade
Because this is a night parade, lights are required. With the addition of the net lights, the doghouse gets to lookin' a little busy during the day, but at night, the net lights do the job quite well.
Materials for lacing the net lights onto the doghouse...
Punching tiny holes...
A loop of small wire...
Twist-tied on the back side.

Finally....Snoopy gets his big warbird off the ground! All those lights are going to create a lot of drag!
Woodstock is barely keeping up with having to haul one Lone Star (A Lone Star Christmas is the theme of the parade, by the way)
Woodstock may have exceeded his wing load. Flight characteristics shot all to hell !
Check six, Snoopy! The Red Baron is on your tail!
Snoopy doesn't seem to be worried at all.
He's the epitome of 'COOL'.
Altitude - about 13' 6"....
....and climbing! A good pilot stays away from the edges of the air-space and our hero is a very good pilot!
Woodstock seems to be keeping up, despite his heavy load.
Snoopy - WWI Flying Ace!

Re: Getting ready for local night parade
Looks great, our Christmas parade is next Thurs. night with a low of 22 deg., gonna be cold on this old southern boy.
Re: Getting ready for local night parade
Well, the parade was canceled due to some very persistent rain...and it's still raining! Even the Model T owners who attend our Christmas party every year (held in conjunction with the night parade) showed up without their cars and trucks. It was wet, Wet, WET! Sadly, Snoopy will have to wait until spring if he's going to fly in my community's parade.
However, despite all the bad weather and disappointment, I got some great praise from the Model T guys on the MUTT. They loved it and several even said they wish they had left their Model Ts in barn-find condition, which really surprised me because these guys obviously have the wherewithal to make things "new' again, so it isn't just laziness, or lack of funds or other, but rather, an actual appreciation for the process of how time wears things down.
Cheers,
TJ
