I am pretty sure that thing is a lot of fun to drive off-road. With the short wheel base probably not so much on roads.

I get a kick out of the specs, it is 10" shorter but weighs 300lbs. more and carries 5 gallons less gas but STILL gets a 300 mile cruising range. That, my friends would be 25 MPG if you ran it dry! Ain't happening!!!

come on Rick, don't be so harsh :) Have you ever seen a vehicle delivering the mileage advertised? I know my daily driver is far from the sales leaflet and I believe my A2 as well...

True, but we all know you have a little bit of a lead foot. Porsches, GTO's, Helicopters. Face it, you like to go fast. :lol: :twisted: But I can guarantee no M-151 motor is going to get that kind of mileage in just about anything short of a go cart. Superkarts are crazy. Hockenheim, I have not driven on that track yet, said to be brutal on the brakes.

I am getting a 3.8l motor build right now for my 911, expecting about 320 HP compared to 240 I had with the 3.2l engine. Not super fast, and my car is not super light, about 2400lbs, but should push ok. First trackday will be in April on the Red Bull Ring in Austria if everything works out.

That kart is turning faster laps than a formula 1 car! I cannot picture crashing one of them at 150 MPH! I was also watching some rally action with them, that looked like a lot of fun. We can't have that over here, too many damn rules. Every time a driver or team loses they cry that the other teams have some unfair advantage and the rules change again.

I would take one over a modern side x side but not at $33k, maybe we could have Guy to build a body. :D

I hate to say it but the modern side by sides have a much better suspension, more power, MUCH better fuel economy and are a lot more comfortable. PLUS, and this is a big one here, All of the ignition parts are modern and will not fail without notice. One battery too. Nope, I do not really like the modern side by sides but they have it all over 60 year old technology.

That thing is awesome. In CA, you can build your own car and register it for the street. However, you can not register a side by side for street use. For that reason I believe a build project similar to this would be a viable option.
