July 4th Parade Bethany Beach, DE

Unread post by Joe » July 6th, 2017, 3:51 pm

Participated in the 33rd annual Independence Day parade with a 1964 M151A1 with USAF markings that I hadn't seen before. I've invited the owner of the jeep to join the G838 website. Our parade group (Harbor Defenses of Delaware) represents Fort Miles (a WWII Coastal Defense Fort) in Lewes, DE. We had nine HMV's in formation (oldest first) with a 42 WC55 in the lead followed by a 42 slat grill Willys to several M38's, an M38A1, then (2) M151 Series trucks followed by a 1988 M35A2. We formed directly behind parade VIP's and local National Guard vehicles to the chants of USA!... USA!...USA!... along most of the parade route. The crowd was in a very patriotic mood, for sure! The USAF radio jeep (with working radios) was a big hit!!! Thank you, Breck, for driving your radio jeep all the way from Dover to join us at the beach.
