Hey Bill Just wanted to say you have one hell of a collection there!!!!!!! Love the Mutt and Love the Goat. And due to this i know now i have 3 ford mutts and 1 AMG. One of my fords is desert now and i think im going to keep it that way. Dont have to worry about green or tan covers cause all it had was canvas.

We pretty much beat the Ford vs. AMG issue on the A2's to death. The bottom line turned out to be if the front fender had the straight bottom edge, it was definately a 1970 or 71 Ford. This was the only absolute to come out of the research. The army asked for a change in the fender because the straight edge fender collected mud and debris which sometimes interfered with the steering. Ford made the change to the notched fender at some point in 1971 (probably about February) which was also their last year of production. It is unknown at this point exactly when Ford made the change in 71 or how many were produced. When AMG started production in 1972 they continued the notched fender design. It appears that both companies tried both stamped and two piece turn signal indentations so that doesn't prove anything either.
