Kaiser/Ford

Unread post by Flyboy740 » December 27th, 2007, 9:14 pm

When I bought my M151 it was titled as a 64 Kaiser. Even had a 64 data plate. After sending some pics to the G, I found out it was really a 60 Ford. It has dual vents, from the factory.

Makes no difference, it's still one that survived being crushed. It's a piece of history that others can see up close.

So far I thought only early Ford A2s have the straight fenders. Later they are also curved like the AMG ones, but the difference is that it is not a single piece pressed part like the AMG, but rather using a welded in part where the composite light sits.

That's what we had put in the g503 wiki about this, but maybe it needs correction...

I think it was the other way around Horst, the Ford A2's had a pressed single piece fender that was straight across the bottom where it met the grille, and the indentation for the parking light was pressed in. The AMG A2s were curved where the fender met the grille, and the indentation for the parking light was a cup welded onto the fender (2 piece).

Jim,

now I am confused. My 151 should be an AMG, has curved fenders, but single piece.

Yours has curved fenders too, but a two piece part ?

Here's the ford A2 :
Image

You can see how the fender is straight across the bottom edge in the front. The indent for the composite light was pressed into the fender on these.

the AMG A2 :

Image

You can see the curve in the same area, the indent under the composite light was a pressed cup attached to the underside of the fender. If you look close you will see a seam on a AMG.

Another clue to Ford or AMG on the A2's was Ford had drains in the floor in front, AMG had drains on the body side.

What has confused things a little is that the military didnt care which was which and would mix parts when making repairs. One fellow on here has a Ford that had one fender replaced with an AMG fender. My own mutt is plated and registered as a 71 ford, What often happened when they had a mutt get into an accident, it was easier and cheaper to replace the body tub rather than repair it. I beleive that happened to mine, as all the suspension, drive chain, misc parts and everything are 71 Ford, but the body tub is about a 1977 AMG. I wont even go into how many had data plates switched years ago to qualify for antique plates...

I'm getting here late, but I wanted you guys with mis-matched titles to feel a little better.

My title just says 1967 Jeep 151. It seems like DMV may have even misspelled Jeep, but I don't have the title in my hand right now to tell for sure.

I don't care if mine says 2004 Peterbuilt! If I can drive it to the show I am good. I show and drive the vehicle, not the title.

Mermites were used for keeping the beer cold,...... there really wasn't any other use. Maybe the food, but not all the time, just kept the flys out. Seabee

I don't know why everyone hates SOS. I think it is good, sorta like the sausage idea. I will have to try it.

Where the heck have you been all these years Rick? Ain't you got Bob Evans Restaurants in New Joysie? I had sausage gravy this morning on my eggs for breakfast, but ole Bob Evans is from Ohio. Pretty much a once a week breakfast thing for me on Wednesdays. Lord, you know your gettin old when you have a breakfast date at the same place every Wednesday morning.

Rainman

Try R.B. Rice sausage, especially the medium in the orange wrap. Once you do, you'll throw rocks at anything else. :D

Hey Raymond,
Never heard of R.B. as a brand, or of rice sausage, but I sure am interested. Be a good reason for a road trip in my opinion. I'll race ya for breakfast while I'm there. :D
