My New Toy

Unread post by DevilDog7090 » October 29th, 2018, 7:15 pm

Here is my new toy. His name is "Ma Deuce." He carries the Browning M2 .50 caliber machine gun. Found him in NY where his previous owner (a retired Army Command Sergeant Major) recently passed. RIP Bruce. It is a 1977 uncut M151A2. When my wife and I were in the Corps, we would use my jeep during lunch. I put my wife's old Marine Corps Service Number on the hood. I drove many others, especially when I was the Adjutant for 2nd Bn, 5th Marines in 1982-83. A tribute to that battalion is on the jeep. Getting ready for the Veterans' Parade here in Branson, MO.

Ya, good restored mutt, I suppose the engine/compartment looks just as good, I wonder if it has a heater in it?

Mark....A HEATER?? In a Marine Corps mutt??? It would need to have been refurbished at the P-W center to have had a heater fitted. You'll be suggesting it came with side curtains next ! :D :D

Kind regards....

yes. it has a heater. you can see it in one of the pictures, but the slave cable connection is what made me look closer. that part comes in the heater kit.

Well, I have an A2 that came from the USMC that has a heater in it! The 151 I installed the heater, a mutt vender told me installing a heater is the hardest task to do in a mutt.I had to do some hard thinking to remember.

Post Note; if my memory serves me right, predominantly the 151s made in the 1960's had no heaters installed in them as they were going to Vietnam

Sure it has a heater....it was an Army jeep. I purchased, painted, and installed the Marine Corps bumper. Nice engine and runs great. Previous owner only drove it 206 miles in 15 years.

I'm getting there. Too many Mom appointments. I have a new roof for it, too.
