Re: Making progress, photo worthy..
Hey Joe,
Nice project and a very fine Mutt! Keep the pictures coming. I like the vertical slat grill !
Sam,
I presume that you take it that the original Willy's MB jeep had the 7 vertical slat grill.

Im confident that Sam is talking about one of the original prototype's. It's my understanding that the creation of the M151 started out with a 7 slat vertical grill. Check out the following link. Research credit obviously not mine....but to all to HK.sherwan_88 wrote:Hey Joe,

Re: Making progress, photo worthy..
Yes that is correct Joe, according to my information too the M151 was to be with the 7 vertical slat grille, but due to copyright and trademark issues it was not, and was given the horizontal grille.

I see the elitist jeep owners claiming that real jeeps have 7 slat grills....does it matter which way they are pointing? Nice work on that grill, and resurrecting that mutt!

I've heard similar comments from the civi jeep world (real jeeps have round head lights and such) I usually reply "real jeeps have stars on their hoods and machine gun mounts." Usually shuts 'em up .ccandgc wrote:I see the elitist jeep owners claiming that real jeeps have 7 slat grills....does it matter which way they are pointing? I like the first photo of the A2 sitting in repose you posted. Your project looks like it's coming along nicely. Keep up the good work !

Re: Making progress, photo worthy..
Thanks all. My A2 has got loads of work left to do. All comments are welcome. "Purist" as some of you call them can be the best part of this site for the most part. These guys usually have the best technical knowledge and keep the vehicle honest. It's the same in the classic car world. You gotta have um!WC Matt wrote:I've heard similar comments from the civi jeep world (real jeeps have round head lights and such) I usually reply "real jeeps have stars on their hoods and machine gun mounts." WC....no worries. Ironically in regards to your civi jeep mention- I usually leave my CJ and Rubi friends "crying with envy" with what my 89 YJ does to them do off road! []IIIIII[] But thats a completely different forum topic.

good looking rebuild....what is the latest word???? Got any new pics???
Re: Making progress, photo worthy..
Took some time off the Mutt for the summer. For any of you who ride motorcycles will understand that my Harley calls during the summer months. Anyway, the mutt gets started and ran at least once a week but no serious work lately. You can bet that I'll be back working on her again once the temp drops.HEPROX wrote:good looking rebuild....what is the latest word???? Got any new pics???

A true Harley rider doesn't care how much the temperature drops, it is never too cold to ride.

Rain, sun, hot, or cold, I'm riding as long as there's no chance of ice on the roads. But, my Harley did get a little jealous when I logged more miles on the MUTT than the bike when I was last home.

I've seen it, its for real, but I don't think I'd do it. I did ride year round , but not in snow lolFrancis Marion wrote:If I did, I'd be doing it.
