Many thanks for the warm welcome to the board. Ill be lurking in the background mostly i suppose.

Soliciting opinions: Buy a new radiator or take a chance getting new core made on old one?

and: rebuild Zenith Carb at local shade tree shop, or go straight for a new one? If i buy new, the carb and radiator will bolt on and ready to go with hopefully no screw ups, i can get the old stuff worked on later and keep as spares.

If you have someone who can recore the original then go that route. That way you know it will be clean and solid. You do not know what you are getting when you spend big bucks for a "new" 30 year old one. The Zenith carbs are tricky, if you know a shop that is familiar with them then have him do it otherwise buy a new one and save the old one. I have a couple right now I am supposed to be rebuilding for people but my Aberdeen trip is getting in the way.
