Amen to that.

Did I ever tell you that I met the C.O. of the construction battalion (think he was a SEABEE) that built the first operational runway in Normandy?

Really............that is worth knowing. My father in law ( passed on ) was one of the original Seabees ( this outfit was the story that the "Fighting Seabees " with John Wayne came from) . When Pearl Harbor was attacked, Wake was also attacked , and it took 2 weeks before the Japanese took the island. Then he spent 4 years as a POW in China and Japan. I also enjoy meeting a WW2 Seabee veteran when I can. Thank you for sharing. Seabee

My Friend's neighbour was a Bataan Death march survivor. He was on Corregidor when it fell. The guy's in his 90s and still gets out there and tends to his cows every day.

I guess you need to be logged in to Facebook, I'll put it on youtube though. Just a couple NG HMMWVs at the end of the parade. Yup, I was the only (old) one.

Hard to imagine that you made your candy girl carry the steel pot too. If her arms were tired after the parade, it wasn't from throwing treats to the kids  I think I was just her size when I went to basic training. Like 4 1/2 feet tall and around 80 lbs. That's the way I remember it anyway.
