Finally it runs without fault
I took a very pleasant 60 mile trip around the country side on the weekend. With registration, civi paint job and a diesel engine that trip was flawless. Without a single hitch i completed the trip and without any interference from the law. I also hit 75 miles on the speedo. The acceleration and torque are better than the L142 though the ratios are odd for a diesel.
A couple of pictures.. and yes its still a work in progress.

Hey Sherwan
Good to hear your out on the road. It's really too bad that your required to keep the paint civilian style. You sure did a clean job on the rear grate, is it removable? Where's you tail lights and front markers? Can we expect a youtube video in the near future?

Sherwan,
Congratulations! There really is NOTHING like that first drive in a vehicle you have been working to make road worthy for so long. Good job! I agree, its a shame you can't keep it looking military, but it is still a great truck.
What a birthday present to yourself.

The rear gate is not removable, it is actually designed to hold 2 gas cans. I haven't gotten around to mounting the corener lights but will do so in the near future.
As for the youtube video i have sobered up but i can organize a video.

Re: Finally it runs without fault
The torque is substantially better and the acceleration is slightly better. I have to take of with half clutch or the rear wheels spin and spin and the mutt goes into a fishtail.baios wrote:So after making that engine modification is finally better than the L142?? The torgue????

What kind of "oil burner" did you install? Turbocharged? Are you still using the original transmission? Wow! Any pics under the hood?

I am just teasing baios here.. nothing like that could occur in a mutt without harmful consequences.ohiomgman wrote:What kind of "oil burner" did you install? Turbocharged? Are you still using the original transmission? Wow! Any pics under the hood?
