Hey John,
Many of the expected local mods we've seen many times before. Nothing horrible at all. It's a little different to see the early ratchet E brake on an A2. I really like the netting replacing the rear window. Considering the climate, it's very appropriate modification. :D Yeah, the stencils are in different locations, but a very clean little driver for sure. Thanks for the pictures, we all like pictures.

No where near as blinged up as most from there. I think someone is mass producing the headlight guards.

Rick when I initially saw the headlight guards I tended to agree with you that someone was making them just for decorative purposes but when I saw them close up I realised that they were quite substantially made, very strong with good welds i.e. something that had been made for a purpose not just decorative. As I mentioned before the Vietnamese will not spend a lot of time or money especially just for cosmetic purposes.

In October this year I went up to Da Nang with my family from UK and at My Son I saw these two Mutts both with headlight guards. I asked the guy who owned them where he bought them and he told me that he bought them directly from the military at Da Nang Airbase (Now a Vietnamese Army training Camp) a few years after the war and that they were nearly new when he got them. He told me that they were original he hasn't done anything to them. So are they original parts or not, I don't know but I will ask around, but it is interesting that every Mutt I personally have seen in Vietnam has them.

I offered to buy them but he wouldn't sell.

Good looking MUTT John (just need to get some rubber on those wheels) ! Otherwise, it doesn't look like it needs much anything else.

Guys, that stencil is not for gas, its for the passinger after a nice VN meal and couple of beers!

Looks like you have a pretty nice rig there!

Rick I have not see a single mutt in VN without the grill / lights guard. And they are made quite well. The one on my VN mutt was heavy and well made, the fit was great. Have not seen the guards over the turn sigs before but I like them as well.

They look pretty original except for the light and grill guards. And the driving lights on the fenders. Original would have been one blackout headlight in that housing on the drivers fender.

Hi Jay,

The white Jeep is a CJ5/toyota/mitsibushi hybrid, it runs well, has rack and pinion steering and many toyota and mitsibushi parts. The only problem is that the rear mud wings extend to far forward so the seats do not go back far enough for me especially with a Toyota steering column so it is being sold. I had a Green one as well which was sort of an M38 but that has gone for sale last week. I have to pay for the Mutt somehow.

My plan is to get an low top Willy's to complete my collection. The garage was purpose built for the Jeeps and designed to hold 5 maximum, but I think I will keep it to 3 unless something very very attractive comes along.
