Hey Fil, Yes, missing the toys ! Not county rd though :) Elena and I are fedup with this place. The corruption and politics have enlightened me ! We are seriously thinking of selling the home, car and returning. Her company is falling apart because of Corrupt Govt officials. They forced her company to move and now trying to put the TV and radio station out of business-These people are ruthless! Lite side-it is snowing :)
My dreams of owning a Russian Jeep are over-to much paper work, and illegal fees to pay!
So Fil and the rest of ya'all, I will RETURN !

Dave,

When my father retired he was bored so he went to Armenia (former soviet republic), when he returned he came up with an idea to offer free medical services to the poor in the city of Gyumri which is the 2nd largest city in the country and was ground zero during the 1989 earthquake that rocked Armenia and killed thousands. To call the city poor would be an understatement. Long story short, my father had a building built, had medical supplies and equipment flown in by kirk kerkorian (owner of MGM and half Vegas) with his airlines. Had doctors lined up from all over the world to spend two weeks at his facility to offer free medical to the people, everything from cancer treatment to brain sugery all for free, for the people. On every other turn there was a city or government official looking for a hand out. Everything from building inspectors, permits, cargo to get the equipment from the airport in Yerevan to Gyumri, customs officials, they all wanted to be paid off for something. Here my dad is devoting his life and money to his homeland for free medical to the people and they all wanted to be paid off. F*cked up mentality if you ask me. It's like you hitch hiking in a blizzard and here I come driving along with my 4x4 with the heat blazzing, I pull over and ask you if you need a ride, Then you ask me to pay you to give you that ride. Thats the Russian/Soviet mentality. Sorry Dan for the thread highjack but when I read about the corruption it struck a nerve. Ukraine is no different than belarus, Armenia, Georgia and the list goes on..To include Russia.

Dan,

Yes, we have seen this before :) In its earlier life, someone tried to remove the Tranny, without removing the engine. I had this done on my 63 m151 and one of my 67a1s. I did not realize that you were so Young ! :) The body is in GREAT SHAPE! Looks like it is ready to be blasted now. In your pic of the area where it was cut-TRANNY. On the channel coming down on the FLAT top side channel, roughly below the bottom hole for the tranny cover will be #s. On the early Fords there were SN #s stamped blast this area lightly to reveal.

On your CLUTCH pedal, is the starter Tab still attached ? This was on the early ones-My 63 had it as well. They were removed by a mil directive in later years. Anyways, you simply depressed the clutch pedal without having to position your foot on the pedal to engage the starter button. If removed, you will see on the left outsideof the pedal the remains of it. You will need the 2 rubber stops mounted under for the 2 pedals. Same as the rubber bumpers on the A1 winshield. The windshield tabs/rests look like some one made up-No big deal. Same webbing as on the grill in front.

Nice early seats. These can be a Bitch to get working if they were left to rust up-Threaded Rod. The BRASS piece and steel dont react well. Spray penatrol/penatrating oil on them and let soak. You probably will need some heat from your torch-lightly so brass does not melt. If the treads are gone, you can fabricate these-COURCe threaded. Your seat covers are remains of the early HORSEHAIR copy.

Nice MOD to remove that screw-they can be tough!

Dan, your antenna mount is early, but not the type i mentioned. On my posting for M151 for sale, on the G503. There is a 64 M151 for dsale. On the left rear corner is the EARLY AB 15 antenna mount I and Rick have spoken about. The Box type you have, the sugar spoon mounts onto that piece. I have seen those mounted on M38s. Nice early REAR suspension system as well. You have lots of early pieces still intact ! :) Frame and chassis look great !
Blast Away!

Yea the transmission removal cut is one of those things Last one I had like that was a M151A1C that was in civilian hands for a FEW years.

I will look for the SN. THANKS FOR THE INFO!!

No tab attached to the clutch

This antenna mount was the one that was mounted to the jeep at one time as the holes are there but welded up. I saw the other "post" type mount you guys were talking about. I am looking for the early version of the "last model" of 3 part corner mount with the round hole and the oval hole, instead of the two square holes.

ALL the parts are at the sand blasters now.

Check out the speedometer never seen this MFG. or the deal on the back?

Hi Dan,

Stumped me on that Speedo. Almost looks like an adjustment knob-screw slot , for needle adjustment.

Nice pics though of your progress. One more place to check for SN #s. on the DRIVER side, where the CURVED knee area. On the INSIDE of this is that STIFFENER piece . Lot of times rotted out on the end. On top of this piece it has been recorded (earlier posts) the SN #s were stamped onto the top of that piece. Tough area to look at-strain the neck !

No, The mount looks about the same as the "current" mount. I looked around and found pictures of that mount but not the one I am talking about. I should have taken a picture of it last month. :x .

Looks like we could make a WIKI just on antenna mounts  I count 6 seperate mounts that are "specific" to the M151 now... I think I might need to get on this

I'm pretty sure I've seen this mount on early 151's in Vietnam on pics posted by our Japanese pal, Mori on his website.

If you are having it blasted then I would not use the undercoating. It is messy and can trap water if not applied correctly. A good epoxy primer will give just as much protection plus you can see any spots that need attention later.

So it is not a factory applied item? I did not think it was but.... I am going to use a high end two part primmer on this one rather than just the rustoliem red oxide I have always used on everything.

THANKS RICK! I appreciate you and your input. :)

The picture that is posted of the corner mount with the hole is the first type the second has a slanted oval hole they also had to mount footman loops on both sides for the straps of the top and side curtain the very first mounts were for the GRC 66,67,68's and look like the one you already have that one is for a GRC-106 rig it would of been on the left side the one for the right side was more of a angle -iron with a flat piece with opening for the AB-15 Antenna Base, there clear as mud. Scott out
