Frederic
Although we have a few former SeaBees as memebers of this forum who can explain it better then I, I'll still give it a shot. The name "SeaBee" comes from the letters "C" and "B" which stands for "Construction Battalion." They are the U.S. Navy's engineers. When the Navy needs something built on land, they send in the "CBs" -or "SeaBees." a similar (but not exactly) organization in a European Military would be the "Sappers."

Is that about right,Swabbies?
Matt

Edit: Platoonboss, your A2 looks sharp,man-good job!

That is correct. The Army had Construction Battalions during WW2 also. The 371st Engineer Construction Battalion was one. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/371st_Engi ... _Battalion

Hello,
Thank you guys.
incredible,
It is written Seabees page 106 of my book "fucking dead" I came across a story Khe Sanh (26 with the Navy) in the worst days of late winter 1968.
The Naval Engineering or 11 Engineering clearing the aircraft debris piled on the track, the target of Russian and Chinese guns located 11 kilometers from the other side of the Laotian border.
A very dirty corner.
