Hi John,

Can you drop some lines about your documents problem as at the end the story was not as we have thought right?

Thanks alpha 3. I must admit I like the old style double rear window, visibility is much better. Anyway its not bad for circa 60USD. Clell has had a drive in the old girl and I think she passed the Smith test :D :D

She drove like a charm! Especially on those red clay country roads :) So John has T gotten the feel for that clutch yet?

As far as I can tell from the part that could be dated it is a 69 (muttguru). I copied the design from a photo taken in VN. From my observations based on photo's taken at the time many vehicles appear to have been fitted with whatever was available. From the photos I have seen I would suspect the answer is yes it would be acceptable. The purist will probably argue otherwise. The yellow paint on the lights is authentic for jeeps used in the big city' as there is loads of photographic evidence to support it.

We haven't used the old girl for a while but the last time he drove her he was still not able to get the combination right, it seems alien to Ty to drive her the way we told him. The last time she was out there was just me, Trang and the kids and she ran a dream. Been using my first mutt the A2 you drove the first time we met, she is such a good jeep to drive.

The off road jeep is progressing, apart from the firewall forward everything else is being rebuilt. Saw it on Saturday, in two halves with all the new panels for the chassis and body lying around. The guy takes it literally when you say remove all the rust and build it for of road. The front of the chassis will also be beefed up to take a winch. The cost for this including repaint etc is 23,000,000Vnd.

I come up with around 1100.00 US.? I see the exchange rate has not changed much in 40 years.

When I came here in 2002 the ER was 15000 to the dollar now it is 20800 so your reckoning is pretty good.
