My latest MUTT

Unread post by SNOOPY » July 16th, 2012, 2:57 am

Hi, just bought this one as is...
Runs perfectly but the body, paint, markings, canvas, tires etc. will need some attention, I know.

This is the data plate on it:

Pascal,
it looks like Erik Manders' old Willys M151 (1963 if I remember correctly).

Is there anything in particular I need to know about this vehicle?

Snoopy,
yes ! Don't go round corners too fast :D
Seriously, the dataplate is a Willys M151. I never got the opportunity to check out Erik's vehicle in person. It may be an M151 but it looks like a later version (M151A1). It had the push-button handbrake and the screw-adjust seats, so it is an early vehicle, but not sure how early.

Do you have a photo of the rear panel of the vehicle, please? That will help.

Do the front fenders have a reenforcing plate under the turn signal? That would be an A1. It has an A1 windshield also.

Hi,

Thanks for your replies!
I will post the pictures I have right now.
Unfortunately, the jeep is in storage at this time, and that is 2 hours away from here.
I will take notes of your questions and take pictures at the end of this month.
In the mean time, all comments are welcome.

Thanks

That is an A1. It has the bulge and reinforcement under the turn signals. They were not just added onto the straight fenders. The bolts on the passenger side front and the fabbed shovel mount tell me it may have been a 718 at one time.

Windshield frame.

The "windshield" is just the glass and it is interchangable between the M151 and M151A1.
