Highest M 151 in Europe....?

Unread post by mwmutt » September 22nd, 2012, 5:05 am

Hello happy mutter,

Like every year, I travel with my A2 across The Alps mountains along the French/Italian border on ex military trails from Chamonix near the Mont Blanc to Nice on Côte d'Azur along the mediterranean sea... During the three last century, these two country have been fighting and the border moving...The military strategy was to occupy the highest position for control the pass and the valley. Today, there is a lot of ex military trails between 500 m up to 3000 m which are the paradise for offroad 4x4. This year I have been up to the highest european trail open to the offroad 4x4 which is in Italy: Pass of Sommeiller, 3009 m high !

On my Picasa album You will see a serie of pictures from some classic spot...Good trip from Michel!

Great photos Michel. I started to feel dizzy just looking at the photos of the zig-zag trail up the mountain.

Michel,

I am very interested in driving those routes next year. As it is around 800km from Munich, I would trailer the jeep over and go from there. What is a good place to start? I have a book for trails in the Alps, however it is a few years old and for example a few trails I drove in Italy with my M201 are now closed. So knowing what trails are open and legal would be important.

Michel,

Wonderful trip ! Did you track the route with your GPS navigation? Can you share it?

Horst, Ken, will we go together in summer 2013? Perhaps Michel and Frederic will join the M151 convoy?

Michel, thanks for the post and great photos :!: That's some of the most beautiful scenery and trails I have seen, what a fantastic place to drive one of our jeeps! It would be very cool if a bunch of you guys get together for a mini convoy next year,

Michel, if you get something organized I live outside of Grasse on a 10 hectare, walled-in property, mostly terraced with oilve trees but a 1/3 of it gone wild for 100++ years, and there is an easy trail around the perimeter.
You guys could stage there if that works.
We are adding a few additions that should be done by this winter.
Keep it in mind
I do not have my M-151s there, though, only in florida

Ciao Franceso,

Michel should put you on the list of convoy members. Would be an international M151 convoy. :D F, I, GB, D, ...

Top, why don't you have a M151 in your garage in Grasse? :(
