Jeeps at Ft Lewis

Unread post by SNOOPY » April 25th, 2013, 4:51 am

Hi,

I just came back from a trip to JBLM. While I was there I took pictures of the jeeps left on post.
I could not believe how some them are left to rot at a "museum display"!

When you go to war, you go to war all the way. You don't go to war piecemeal.
You go, and you go to win.

This one was restored by the DoL on post and it is being used by the I CORPS Commander for parades and reviews.
It is located at the DoL paint shop on post.

thanks for posting these, snoopy---i wonder if those old barracks still exist that we were in in the late 60's for basic and AIT. that one highly polished parade jeep never looked like that in service i'd bet! wonder how many original miles are on it?

I guess it beats the alternative which was crushing them.

They still had the old wooden barracks up on North Fort when I was there back in '06 & '07. They were still used by ROTC and transient units like ours.
