I don't think "re-enactors" really qualify for the "playing war" epithet. These days, younger kids--and even young adults-- really have no frame of reference for what Vietnam was all about. Showing some of that in living form is, I think, a real service. I commend these guys. Good job, Alfa 3.Horst wrote:Never understood the point about playing war...
Just as Civil War re-enactors are an aid to appreciating history (see link beloe)., so too, the Vietnam War guys.

Welcome to the "now we know who you are" club. Now you will get people walking up to you at shows and saying "you don't know but................." Ask me how I know that. Unfortunately it is usually older guys with pot bellies and NOT pretty girls though so don't get your hopes up. But if Rainman is there and he has had enough George Dickel he may try to pass himself off as one for a free ride. Consider this fair warning!

Re: mutt on historia mundi
It is ironic your brother is manning the pig on your jeep. He reminds me a lot of a fellow 60 gunner in Vietnam. He was just a hair taller than me at 6'4" but where I was 220 lbs. he was at least 280lbs.. Nicest guy on earth unless you got him mad. Why anyone would do that on purpose is beyond me. At that point you did not have to worry about him shooting you, he was just going to beat you to death with the gun.

Oh sure Rick, that always helps. I mentioned my pal Seabee's name in the head during a recent trip to Norfolk and still couldn't get a good seat. One sailor just pointed to this sign as he walked out the door, without washing his hands I might add...
Sorry Seabee.
