WE DID IT! Made the 4th of July Parade!

Unread post by Tractorhunter » July 6th, 2014, 5:39 pm

Title says "WE" and I mean exactly that. Thanks to you guys on this forum I made my self imposed deadline to drive my M151A2 in the 4th of July parade in our county seat. I was impressed with the reception the Mutt got and never saluted so many times in one hour since the 60's if ever. I put 115 miles on it on the 4th and over an hour in parade mode, never a spit or sputter, she behaved beautifly. Photos are from a car show I attended today, same reception. Even came back from getting a cold beverage and found a guy flat on his back under it. I asked if I could help in any way and he said he was trying to see where it had been cut (it hasn't). I know it is not perfect, I decided not to paint the interior after seeing some originals where the interior was left green and liked the scheme. I would like to list all of you guys who helped but I would forget someone and feel badly so "THANKS" to all of you. TH

Very Very Nice :!: Like the way you keep the inside solid green. Not many things cooler looking than a mutt with the windscreen down, or cooler to drive that way :!:

Pic number four, perfect framing of the 57 retractable hardtop Ford in the background. My dad had several of those over the years and I remember working on them well. All of those damn servo motors and drive cables for the top and latches. What I wouldn't give for one of them now! All of his had the 312 Y block in them.

Sure, 10 months of work and thousands of dollars in parts, asking questions on this board ( and getting answers ), a mile of welding wire, 2 tanks of Argon, over 100 sheets of sandpaper (you get the picture) and RICK sees the Ford retractable in the background. Arrrrrrrrgggggg.

Looks like a nice jeep, the plain configuration is really good looking. Me personally, I do find a big antenna with no radio a little odd. And I am surprised you did not remove the ROPS modifications.

HA! I do the same. Am always looking for great ideas on storage, organization, lift, whatever. Plus it is fun to see what else people are into.

Tractor- VERY nice jeep! Your paint job is about the best I have seen a restorer do. The pattern looks like our old ones in the army. You got your stripes/thicknesses, and placement perfect! Awesome!
