Finally delievered 196X M151A1

Unread post by Austringer » August 5th, 2014, 8:49 am

Picked this up off of Craigslist back in Feb and the previous owner finally had a chance to dig her out of the barn for me and bring her over this morning.

Not the best condition, but I don't have much in her to start. I think the engine is frozen but not sure. I'll need to purchase front and rear drive shafts as they are missing. I'll need to replace the battery box and do some body work on her, but noting too much. I have a very nice M151A1 windshield that will replace the A2 one and a very nice grill as well.

Thoughts comments tomatoes....

Its almost rusty. But looks much too nice and solid. Give it a few years under an oak tree and you can get it into a proper "look what I found, should I save it" post!

It might, only reason I have this one now is that I bought and paid for it back in Feb of this year and it was finally brought to me in this morning. I was expecting the channels to be rusty and needing a repair kit so when I looked under it, I was very happy. :-) Regaring the other project I'm looking for, I found one and I'm working on price with the current owner. We are about 15K apart right now but looks like we might have a deal in the next month or so.

The other item is not running but mostly complete and in fair shape. Been wanting one for about 16 years now and just finally in a position to take the plunge and get one. Plus it has a title, which is nice if I ever decide to sell it.

I was thinking late 64-65 as it is a factory A1, but has some early features on the body. Def not a 63 though as only straight 151s were made then.

For some reason I thought it was a straight 151 that someone had added a turn signal to. I see the factory wire now.

It's actually clay from the Tulsa OKL area. It looks just like red GA clay. :-) I've washed plenty of that stuff off before.

Jason

Yesterday afternoon, I decided to put the new Mutt up on ebay as I seem to have the best luck there. Reason I'm selling it and the other 2 M151s is that I finally came to an agreement with the other party regarding a cash/trade deal on a vehicle I've wanted for 20 years. (it even has a title!!!)

Will post in a few months when she arrives.

I went out and really went over the m151a1 and its too nice to list on the fleabay, and someone here should get first chance at it. If you're interested, let me know. Once I replace the engine in my 66 a1 ( picked it up last weekend) I'm going to start working on this one. Mainly needs a little body work, one or two welds and some sanding to make the body very nice. Will put a crate engine and rebuilt tranny I have to speed up the process. Again if your interested let me know and we see about working out a deal as I have a big od purchase coming up.
