It followed me home

Unread post by m3a1 » September 9th, 2014, 11:22 pm

You know how it is… People drive by and see your vehicles and the next thing you know there's a knock on the door and some guy is standing there on the porch who has "an old jeep you might be interested in"

So, fellas - here it is…the latest addition, an uncut M151A2.

Texas barn find and a fairly good example of a basic truck that hasn't been chopped up or modified.

Underbody looks generally good with some issues on the forward transverse member.

My wife says "it's cute" which likely explains why she married me  .

Yes, it runs (surprisingly well, in fact).

Last paint was applied with a brush, much of which is busily flaking off, so if you ever wondered what an M151A2 would look like if it were molting, here it is….. and it looks like there are a lot of original markings desperately trying to get out from under that paint.

This one will get a thorough cleaning and mechanical assessment and then set aside for later. The stable is now approaching critical mass.

The fact that it has a BUDD number and the later style A2 fenders means it is one of a small group of late model A2's made by Ford before AMG took over the contract. You could call it kind of rare.

P.S. How many regular vehicles do you have around there?! DAMN!   Pick-ups everywhere.

Ha!

Good morning, Rick and thanks for the info.

Those are the seller's trucks. The M151A2 hasn't been moved to my place yet.

This is Texas and we all like our trucks!

Just put every vehicle you own that's green in the driveway. Make it look impossibly cluttered. You'll soon have people knocking on your door.

Cash changed hands this afternoon. Free delivery to my door on Saturday!

First I'm going to get a tetanus shot and then I'm going to fire up the power washer.

The wife wants to select a name for it but I'm thinkin' "Chupacabra"…..
