It looks terrific, Nobby. Congratulations. That hood number is not a US Army number..... are you going to keep it using the dashplate serial number? Just wondering........

The hood numbers were from a generic stencil kit applied by the PO. I would replace if
I knew what they should be and
If i could find the correct stencil

As for the 'vin', it's now registered with the dvla so it'll have to stay

And before anyone mentions it, the reg number plates are temporary untill i find something more appropriate

Nobby,
that body number is unusual (the 36574) in that it's very high. I have details of one that was used by Anith who worked for a UN Agency in Sudan and his began with 33. His was a FMS (Foreign Military Sales) vehicle with a 1985 Contract. That one was presumably delivered directly to the UN so it would never have had a US Army number. Likewise with many of the Saudi-owned vehicles. The KSA purchased A2s directly from the US and presumably many were new and never had been in US military usage.

So what to do? I can suggest a suitable hood number based on whatever year you registered it as with the good ol' DVLA.

Let me know.

Ken

Yes please, suggest away.
Dvla have it as a 1974, although for a hood number id prefer to have one that closer matches its real age if you think its later

Engine is an 83 as is the carb and it definitely came in fron saudi so maybe it is a late one as you say.

The number that i sent you fron the wheel carrier looks genuine and unmessed.

And if anyone has a decent picture of a saudi one in service i may be tempted to paint it to match
