M416 with Surge Brake

Unread post by mrdibbles » June 23rd, 2009, 10:01 am

Hey Guys-
I had never seen an M416 with a factory surge brake until this one on Ebay. Sharing the pictures here to see if others are familiar with this variant? The manufacture date on this trailer is 1978. Were they retrofitted in 1978 with surge brakes or were they manufactured new this way?

No, but they should have, and if you recall a discussion we had a couple years ago over at G503, I think there should be bearing buddies on the wheels of the M151 too :!: 8)

I don't want to jack the post but alot of the noise people are hearing is the wheel bearings... the seals are junk and no way to grease like the willys. Water gets in and the bearings suffer for it and then start to scream....HTN

hello

i have it for years now jay knows it
bud i have no troubles with the wheel bearings at all
i use grease tad is water resistance
only the nylon bushings in the trailer head for the brakes are swelling up and then the towing eye will then not go in to set the brake at work
