Re: m416 on government auction
Looks like someone torched the rear panel for a gate but never finished it. I would say that if that was done in the military, which is what it looks like, someone went to the brig for destruction of government property!

Re: m416 on government auction
Doesn't appear to be any burn marks on the backside just a primer line. Maybe its a line of primer on the inside.
Re: m416 on government auction
Yep, all I see is primer in those corners. I'm not close to it or I'd be bidding. They never go for opening bid though. There was an odd M416 variant trailer GL had listed incorrectly as a M100 amphibious opened at $150 then went for $650 recently. I've found them cheaper in farmer's pastures and on craigslist than I've seen sell from GL in the past couple of years. 150 miles or less and $400 or less in need of restoration is what I keep my eyes open for, and if you look, you'll find em. In my case more than one. I've got 2 M416's and an M101A1 trailer sitting in "my motorpool". Use the craigslist search sites, http://www.searchtempest.com/ or http://craiglook.com/ etc., they kick butt for very specific searches! Best of luck in your search, let us know what you dig up.

PS: I found 3 in Ohio while checking the links to those sites. One of em I like at $375. On ebay the opening bid only goes up. On craigslist, the opening price is usually negotiable and can often go down. Good luck!

Look at picture number 4, Top left side of the trailer, That is a cut at the top. You can see through to the inside on the panel and you can see the cut line on the rail.

That's because you live close enough to those 50+ trailers were dumped in NJ a few years ago. I have to bump my search up to a day's drive each way just to look at one.Rainman wrote:150 miles or less and $400 or less in need of restoration is what I keep my eyes open for, and if you look, you'll find em.
I see a whole lot of rust along that red line in pic 6.rickf wrote:Look at picture number 4, Top left side of the trailer, That is a cut at the top. You can see through to the inside on the panel and you can see the cut line on the rail.
I'm still hoping that Cobra5 has an extra one.
