Serial number on the chasis ?

Is there a serial # on the chasis of the 416 trailer. Like the WWII era 1/4 ton? The trailer i found doesnt have any data plates. Must be a thing for me. my mutt didnt have them eiter.

on the frame, right hand side, about at the front of the tub. At least that's where mine has one.

unless added by the motorpool who had possession of it, no, there are no numbers on the M416 trailers. Its not uncommon to see them with the mil reg added to the frame rails with a welder but that was a local mod.

I'll have to check the frame on mine to see if there is a number burned into it. Mine all have data plates.
