M416 Wiring Question

Unread post by vtdeucedriver » May 17th, 2010, 8:58 pm

Hey all, I took the wiring off and I cant remember if the wire runs up over between the frame and the tub at the front where it comes from the intervehicle cable or does it go under the frame and into the holes down the side. I would think it goes above the frame and scoot between the tub and the frame.

LOL, nope not really!!! I cant see my area of concern. If you look as it goes foreward through the last horizontal support (in the flipped picture). It goes up the frame to the pintal, it then needs to go inside that frame. When it crosses that frame, is it between the frame and the tub???? I cant remember how mine was. If anyone has a M416, just take a peak and tell me. I might just remove the bolts from the tub again and sneak it between there as I would think that it would but I am not sure.

I know on mine the tub is tight against the frame all along the outer edges and also tight against the lip on the front. I would be pretty sure it goes under at that point. If you have to loosen a bolt to get it in then that is not the right route. The harness will come out without removing any bodywork.

Not being on my own computer at the time, I can't really see the pictures in the detail needed to view the area in question, but I'm going to say UNDER. If I'm picturing the area in question properly, it is not impinged by the tub, and looks somewhat vulnerable, and under the frame at the front of the tub.

I went out back into the "SWAMP" and uncovered two of the trailers to have a look, they both run under the drawbar then to the frame,

The page I posted earlier was from a trailer TM dated Oct. 1970, perhaps it was changed at a later date. :)
