Registering M416 in AZ. And finally using it!

Unread post by Crusader_22 » October 18th, 2010, 6:46 pm

Well, I finally went to the DMV and began the titling and registration process for my M416. It was missing the original data plate when I got it, so I just bought a NOS one, and added the info, and used the data off a little tag on the tongue as the serial number, DMV accepted that as the VIN. It's just a trailer, so the process has been a bit less strenuous than M151 titling.

Long story short, I need to get a bonded title, due to the fact that it has not been titled here before (or anywhere). I have to get a bond from my insurance company, then go back for the title and permanent registration and license plate. I will do that tomorrow. Hopefully the lines will be shorter.

Towed it around today to take it to DMV for the level 1 inspection. It sure does tow nice. MUTTs are a bit underpowered with the trailer, but I drive like an old man in it, anyway! I got a 3 day permit, so I have been driving around with it all day.

Sure get a lot of comments and looks, with or without the trailer, but the whole rig together looks pretty cool, and does turn heads.

Man, am I glad I got this thing. If you don't have one for your MUTT, I highly reccommend finding one!

Jeff

LOOKIN GOOD! :D

Hey they have the "private" DMV sites (at least they do up here). Not sure you can do the bond there or not but..... There are no lines and the service is great, yea you pay a covenience fee but WELL worth it. Save a hour our two of your life.

Not that you would forget but I have those tires set aside for you...I may be down to see jack in the next couple weeks sooooo.

Hey Crusader,
That's a good looking rig you've got there. Pulling a trailer is a little different, but I still start off in 2nd gear. When the trailer is loaded you might find yourself using 1st gear. I've towed a 3/4 ton M101 with the jeep, and that's a strain for sure. I'm looking for an M762 flat bed to add to my motorpool. I'll have to get rid of something to make a parking space for it though. Your a one man parade everywhere you go. I never get tired of it. :D Keep up the outstanding work!

Hey, Dan. No, I haven't forgotten. Just let me know when you will be down. I will make time. And i work nights temporarially, so I am available during normal human hours. I should find a private DMV. Gawd, I hate sitting in that damn place. But it has been pretty painless. I got my Bond, cost me $100, but worth it. After 3 years, I get a clear title.

Yeah, I guess it isn't a "RIG" until you have a trailer, Rainman! Thanks! I do love it.

Man, backing that thing is a PAIN IN THE ASS. It is so short. It just jack knifes either way, you really have to work at it. But I think I am getting it down.

Thanks, I like the color, too. Someday it may be semi gloss, but this just looks too good to change it.'

Rick, you got me on that one. I will practice more and report back. Or hit something. :D

Good looking. I would still upgrade to the composite lights, a little safer...
