Wanted - M101A3 Style Landing Leg
All the m101s and M116s were 3/4 ton trailers. Not for use on a M151. Unless it's a Canadian M101 1/4 ton trailer.

My head still hurts. Were the Canadian 101's made in the US. or Canada?

Re: Wanted - M101A3 Style Landing Leg
Here is some good information about the Canadian M101-series trailer (which is very different from the US M101-series)...

BTW... I found a guy on Steelsoldiers that makes reproduction crank handles for the M101A3 (US style 3/4-ton trailer). He charged me $30 so I'm pretty happy. With the used M101A3 landing gear ($85) and the reproduction crank I'm into this for about $150 w/ shipping.

Re: Wanted - M101A3 Style Landing Leg
The only trailers for the M151 jeeps were the M416 for cargo and the M762 flatbed 1/4 ton trailer for the flashlight and/or generators. the M101 and M101a1 3/4 ton trailers were for the M-37 3/4 ton truck, and had wheels to match the m-37, and no trailer brakes other than the parking brakes. The M101a2 was for the CUCV type 3/4 ton trucks and had Chevy wheels to match, and added a surge brake to help stop them. The m101a3 was meant for the Hmmv, had Hmmv wheels, crank down landing gear, surge brakes, and was made wider to hold more and match the width of the hmmv. The m116 was the flatbed version of the m101 primarily used for generators and tools.rickf wrote:Does that mean the straight 101 would have been mated to a M-151? Sort of does not make sense since it does not fall into the timeline correctly. The M37 would be first and that is an A1. Now if the M37 was the straight 101, and the M151 was the 101A1, that would make sense because my 116's are A2's as is Mr. D.'s 101A2. That would make the Hummer the A3.

Re: Wanted - M101A3 Style Landing Leg
OK, That clears that up but what about the 101 Canadian that has the same bolt pattern as the 151? Or is that using the older CJ and Ford 5-5 1/2?

Re: Wanted - M101A3 Style Landing Leg
Ok so I got the A3-style adjustable landing leg in the mail yesterday and within 3 minutes (literally) it was installed. One bolt removed and the old-style non-adjustable landing leg was laying on the floor. 2 minutes later the new adjustable leg was raising and lowering my trailer. Super slick and highly recommended for anyone using these larger 3/4-ton M101-series trailers. I fought this, I didn't want to spend the money, but my back was getting cranked unnecessarily. I found the used adjustable A3-style landing leg on Ebay ("Buy-it-Now" for $85 + $20 Shipping) and then found a guy on Steel Soldiers who makes reproduction handles ($30 + Shipping). Here's the mounted photos...

Tractor supply-------------- universal clamp on trailer jack. ~ 35.00 complete. I will just leave the original landing leg on there and use this to get it on and off the vehicle. Yea I know and I don't care. I'll paint it green.

I absolutely could have gone the "Bubba" route Rick. Instead I kept this clean trailer mil-spec with the appropriate landing gear.rickf wrote:Tractor supply-------------- universal clamp on trailer jack. ~ 35.00 complete. Re: Wanted - M101A3 Style Landing Leg
Nice trailer. Wider than what I'd want but a better looking design in my opinion. Higher off the ground too... M101's are already high enough for what I need a trailer for.
