HummerKiller Trailer on Ebay

Unread post by Rainman » March 17th, 2013, 1:20 am

I was checking out this trailer and thought it looked like good ole HK's handy work, and to my surprise when zoomed in on the data plate
Let's not let this post go all negative and brutally mean, that's not my intention. Please just look at the details and have your chuckles, and move on. Of course witty remarks are always welcome. :D http://www.ebay.com/itm/4x4-Jeep-Milita ... 56&vxp=mtr

interesting seeing that turn up. not too many original parts on it. I wonder how well it tracks with the A1 suspension... could be a good little trailer for an offroad jeeper. I'd rather see that than another m416 get hacked up....

Apart from the weird thought can you can sell this for almost 3k, it at least looks like good craftsmanship. I have to say that I am surprised that he was able to deliver such work.

Hey Top.
There are 6 thumbnails visible on the listing. Io the left and right of those 6 pics there are scroll arrows. A click on the right arrow will let you see the additional pictures. HK had an entire thread dedicated to this modified trailer. I have no idea if it is still posted somewhere, of if it was removed by HK, but it showed the suspension work and the rail and tailgate fabrication. How it made it to California I have no idea, and how it became worth nearly $3,000 is really beyond me. :?

I like how they say they took it in trade but then they go on to add-on all the extra suspension stuff and put a price to it like they are the ones that built it. I damn well guarantee HK never got anywhere near 3 grand for it. If you look close at the tire in the last photo you can see by the wear that it has been hopping. My guess is tire balance but a bad shock will do the same. Problem is that since the tire is worn that way now on a light weight trailer even if you balance it and put on new shocks it will still hop.

Since you mention it Jim, I don't see anything on this trailer that's actually from a 416, it's even a repro data plate. It's not an M569 frame or draw bar, not an original tub or fenders. it has an A1 suspension and hubs with no functional brake, no corner handles and with a tailgate like that, no floor drains. Civilian wiring lights and chains. The rims and tires were multipurpose and billed twice for the spare, but not M416 specific. He originally had plans to make 3 of them, all slightly different and his price point was 1/3 of it's current opening bid. I have no idea if he made all three or if this is the only one floating around. He worked on enough stuff over the years it not surprising that a piece gets hiccuped onto the market every so often, but this one's signed.

Wow  Not until I zoomed in on the data plates did I understand how you knew this was some of HK's handy work. Wonder if this was supposed to be the companion piece to the new & improved mutt he was working on?
