Show & Tell - New Gen-Set Trailer - AN/MJQ-32

Unread post by mrdibbles » October 7th, 2013, 8:08 pm

Hey Guys-
New GL purchase (yet to be hauled home). Trailer is called an AN/MJQ-32 and comes mounted w/ twin MEP-701A's. Plans are for use in powering the home in emergency situations... may also use it to decorate my garage. The latter is the more likely scenario. I've enjoyed my other M101A2 trailer and find trailer collecting to be a real strange affair. I hope it stops here.

If you plan on using that to power the house be sure to read up on the National electrical codes as far as bonding and trailer grounding. Did it come with all the ground rods and the ground wire? Go to the Steel Soldiers site and on the Auxiliary equipment forum. There is a lot of good info on the gen-sets there. There is a lot you have to check before even trying to start them.

Good looking setup. :)
If you do look at the posts on steelsoldiers, pay particular attention to the posts by "steelypip"... :) He's done a great job of documenting the tear down/rebuild process and also has very good info posted for fuel consumption, loading, and use in civilian applications.
His treatment of gensets is similar to your treatment of M151s...

I think Jimc's rebuild reminds me more of Mr. D's work. Check out the detail on this thread. You will probably have to be a Steel Soldiers member to see it.
