M416 Bolt Pattern ?

Unread post by AA1PR » December 27th, 2013, 1:18 pm

I have a 1966 Stevens M416 & have found different references to different Bolt Patterns

the original military rims were removed by the previous owner & had old stock jeep steel rims added

however the trailer is at my parents & I'm avoiding running over there to measure the bolt pattern

is it 5x4.5 or is it 5x5 ?

many thanks

Hi, it is 5X5 but, you should make sure they didn't change the studs, "most" of the original studs have a long shoulder that will cause most acorn lug nuts not to tighten properly on the other wheels that fit.

thanks, I will check into that as well

here's about the only pic I have that sort of shows the rim & lug nuts

I wish the guy I bought it from would have left the original 7x16 rims on it

It takes the same rim as the Mutt, I'm sure you know that, they are easy to come by, you can get them for about 25 ea. Looking closely at your photo it looks like the lug nuts may be reversed so, I think the studs are 416 studs as there is a lot of thread showing, this would be one way to get the wheel tight against the hub.
