M416 shocks

Unread post by bazookajoe » October 13th, 2015, 11:44 pm

What are the correct replacement shocks for a 416 trailer and are they available at an auto parts store?

I can tell you that the 416 shock is longer then the 151/A1 shocks, I don't have access to my trl. right now but can go look at it later if no one comes up with the number.

The white shock is off a 151, they are both fully extended.

Joe, according to my old list of interchanges, M416 (NOT M416A1***) shock absorbers can be replaced with :-

NAPA 94038
Monroe 11465
Monroe 18236
Monroe Gasadjust G5401MIL
Gabriel Classic 82014

Take one of your old ones to compare to either/all of these before you buy.
Ken

***NB "The interchange shock absorbers are listed above. I'm advised that these will directly replace the original shock absorbers on the M416 and M416 w/hydraulic brake (M416A1). Note however that the M416A1 has a third shock absorber.... this is installed in the lunette housing and is designated "Shock Absorber - Actuator - p/n 1844-2". Unless someone has found an interchangeable unit for this, you will need to obtain a mil replacement."

I wasnt aware that the M416A1 used a different shock, do you know what the cross-over shock would be... Thanks, Scott

Scott,

I will amend my earlier post. It should have said....."The interchange shock absorbers are listed above.
I hope this clarifies. Sorry 'bout that.
