M45 Light Instrument?

Unread post by czechnology » August 3rd, 2009, 1:58 pm

Hello fellows, I recently acquired this cool "map light" .
There is "Light Instrument M45" written on the tube. Could you please advice if you ever saw it on a MUTT in service? I don´t even know if this is designed for any particular vehicle, or is it also for M151 series vehicles. I guess this would fit to the shift stick? I have never seen it here before. Any comments appreciated. Thanks.

Think it's a light for a mortar sight similar to the INSTRUMENT LIGHT, M53E1

See Figure 2-21. Instrument light, M53E1.

Nice forum you got there, but too difficult to navigate without English. Managed to see some pictures.

Hey bro....I used these a lot in the Army....I was a Mortar Man. This instrument light goes with an M2 Aiming Circle. The Aiming Circle is used to emplace mortars to ensure they are all firing on the same axis. The instrument light illuminates the lens and has a handheld min-light that allows you yo look at the sight at night....
