My guess is carrying injured soldiers.

By application I mean was it used for air transport, ambulance or were they all the same? Thank you for pointing out the obvious...

The litter was common where ever the military was. They were used to transport soldiers from the field to medical facilities in the rear. They could be found on all types of transports the military used. Better? Guess the mr green didn't come through.

Well, I used them from the steering end, the driving end and the passengers position  and I never saw a difference in them. I think they are all the same.
