military tread

Unread post by Lindsay36551 » October 29th, 2018, 10:02 pm

Hey all,
Looking for a post Viet Nam tread for my A2 that I'm doing for desert storm, USMS recon, Fitted with an M60 and a newer fn240 mounted to the wind screen.
Going to tire rack to see what's available
I saw a really cool tread pattern < thought it was HORSTS vehicle .;
He has told me I was mistaken, Looking for a 700 X16 tyre that has rounded edges and an aggressive tread pattern

no, they are not. I run standard NDMS tires, they are neither good looking nor do they have any good performance....

Why not just look at modern off road tires? Interco has the Swamper line, They are about as aggressive as you will ever find and they have the sizes you need no matter what you are looking for. And they are all DOT rated.

Those are all retreads.

And there is no way I would run a tire named "Venezuela" :wink:

Modern retreads are good tires, but that is considering they are made in quality plants and not some third world tire shop.

Just wanted to thank all of you for your input on this subject!
I haven't come to a conclusion yet!
Its tough picking the correct tread and stance without it mounted to the vehicle!
I have 4 months to make it correct!
Ill let you know how it ends up!

Tires are an interesting subject but thus far we've said very little about them, other than speaking in generalities.

Here's a fairly good article (unfortunately, rife with advertisements) but fairly informative. It probably will not lead anyone to make a decision on which particular tire is "best" but it is fairly educational so, if you are interested in an easy read on the subject while you enjoy your morning coffee, here is the link.

That is a tubeless tire so if you are going to run tubes be sure to get tubes that are compatible with the tires.
