Ignition points

Unread post by buttanic » December 5th, 2018, 6:25 pm

Are OEM ignition points available. I as because I bought a set of points from on of the larger suppliers who shall remain nameless and the set is so dimensionally different in several was that although they can be installed in the distributor they can not be correctly adjusted.
1 The overall length of the new set is slightly longer than the original set.
2 The oval adjustment hole is in a different orientation from the original.
3 The plastic rubbing block is too long
The combination of all three issues prevents the points from closing.
Can anyone say probably made in China.

My coil went bad and in the process of replacing it I decided to also replace the points and condenser. I guess I will have to put the old ones back in.

I am also interested as I wish to obtain some spares and it would be good if I can get something in Australia.

The points should be the same as the M38, M38A1, M37, etc, anything that used that style distributor. I also think most 6 cyl Dodges/Plymouth's of the 50's, 60's and early 70's are the same.
Still crazy after all these years.
