TSEC/KY-57 Install......about time!

Unread post by salmonmutt » April 3rd, 2014, 9:27 pm

Well... after a long search for the demilled ky-57 accessories I've finally got some time for the install. I learned a lot of lessons on this installation since I'm not an expert in this area. I figured the forum would enjoy the pictures. Note to anyone that is interested- remove the sponson plates to install. It will save you a lot of effort!!! :)

Doing the same thing to mine. Where did you find the power adapter?

Salmonmutt,

Fantastic set up I am working on getting my KY-57 set up with my AN/GRC-160 set up. I have found every part except two: I'm looking for a HYP-57 power supply but I got the back plate with plug so I and going to fab up a dummy for the time being. Also Looking for Right side plate SC-D-446187 for the support assembly box. I ended up getting a left side plate and two top side plates.

If anyone has the Right side plate please let me know?

A question for you can you post a better picture of your handset hangers? are this home made or the real deal?

It seems all that's missing is the flux capacitor.

Well done!

The only problem I see with that setup is that the vehicle with those radios in it would most likely NOT have a machine gun in it also. It would not tend to be THAT close to the front lines. And you really do not have the room to move to aim the gun with all the radio gear.

Hello txjeeper

I have the associated parts that you need. I will make sure and check my inventory since I have a large quantity of an/vrc-12 equipment. As for the microphone mounts, they were from a mount that was kicked out of the DRMO years back so I'm sure they are legit.

I do have a shitload of Technical manuals to make your installation correct if you need any information. I'm pretty anal about that.

As for the M4 mount, they utilized any vehicle for whatever they needed done for the mission. I understand this wouldn't be right up front, but if it was needed for whatever they would need at the time it would be used. It actually had this mount in it along with the radio mount locations when it was kicked out of the military, so it is legit in that aspect. I can't answer why or who did it in it's service life, but it was a radio relay truck (AN/VRC-49) with an M4 mount in it.

This thread has dated pictures. The complete install with the wire line adapters and all of the TSEC equipment are new as of this post. I will try to upload current photos if anyone is interested. :D

Here is my set up I have manage to piece together, only part I know that I am missing is the correct right side plate. The one I have is a home made one that I made quickly to take the mutt to a show.

It does not the army was nice enough to engrave for display only on almost every major part. The Museum how ever has and operates a HH-46 and OH-6
