Re: Mirrors
Hambone, I looked at the following MUTT TM's and looked up the mirror part:
TM 9-2320-218-10 August 1978
- 20P January 1972
-20P December 1978
-20P December 1988
-34P January 1972
-34-1 August 1982
You know what? They all listed the round mirror. Not a square mirror listed, not even as an alternative. I have pics of the A2's being tested at Fort Knox, KY and they have round mirrors. February of 1970 is the first delivery of A2's to the Army. I also have numerous pics of A2's with square mirrors, but they are a unit MUTT in the motor pool or in the field.
However, what vehicle do we have in production from 1967 to 1969 and was not replaced until 1976? The Kaiser Jeep M-715 cargo Truck. It came from the factory with square mirrors! Most likely a unit with MUTTs would have the M-715 assigned or in the same motor pool. I surmise that the
M-715 mirrors were requisitioned and put on MUTTs for better visibility. The unit Safety Office as well as the Commander would have bought off on this and was easy to defend as a non-stock item for the MUTT. That is my best guess. Kevin.

Re: Mirrors
I have a (Barstow) 1972 and it came with the round mirror. Fits to Kevin's post. Of course it is long gone. I had put a second rectangular mirror on the right side for my trip to the UK some years back, was intended just for the "keep left" traffic, but that one is also still on the jeep.

Re: Mirrors
I concur with motor pool upgrade. Several of the M170 front line ambulances I have as projects have round mirrors and several have the rectangular mirrors, all on the same military adjusting arm, so I don't think a Bubba switch.

I would have thought the same thing, but look mounted to this windshield.

Re: Mirrors
The inside round mirror is the same part number for the outside mirror. The inside mirror can be found in the -34P, January 1972, which is the first -34P for the A2's. It is not listed in the earlier -34P (1968) covering just the M-151 and M-151A1. It was still listed in the -20P, dated December 1988. As with the outside mirror going square on some vehicles, I think anything else mounted inside came from another vehicle also. Kevin.
