Looks like most of it will stay east of me, 2-3" of rain and 35mph winds, Surveyor will likely take a direct hit.

I was lucky. It was just east of me so winds were not too bad. No damage to speak of. Will post more once I have time. Things are crazy hectic at the moment.

Short update - All good in my area except for the gas shortage. Long lines if you find a station that has any. Local grocery stores were in short supply of bread, lunch meat, chicken, of course the beer coolers were completely empty.   Ran down Highway 1 down to Cutoff on Saturday to bring about 100 gallons of fuel, food, and another generator to my good friend's brother. Unfortunately, he can't leave because of work ...on the offshore boats in that area. They don't expect power down there for at least a month. Looked like every structure had some form of damage from small to totaled. Trees and power poles snapped like twigs. Feel for those that got it. Could have been us.

Today had to run to MIss. River and do a hydrographic survey around one of the docks. Plant can't load or unload product till it's deemed safe. Bonne Carre Spillway had at least ten barges on north side of river that were grounded. Saw about five of the big river tugs trying to pull one barge back in when we got there this morning. They were still pulling on the same one when we left I'm sure.

Just another day in sportsman's paradise.

Those big tugs are 10,000 to 15,000 horsepower each so you are looking at a minimum of 50,000 horsepower trying to pull a barge back into the water. That must have been quite a sight! And a LOT of stirred up, muddy water.

For the linemen working this storm work, 18+ hours days were the norm, if not more, with days with no sleep at all.But with the lack of sleep, you get dumb. But for hot work they wanted you have alot more sleep.Of course they had man camps, and last but not least, you slept in the trucks. Aw, you made alot of money on paper, but taxes took a big chunk.Aw, maybe this is an irreverent
post, if so, the moderator can delete it.
I suppose using a dozer to push a barge back in the water would cause too much damage/probably too wet for traction, aw what do I know???
