Nope, wrong tool. This one - https://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS/555/W86557/10002/-1
Some people are too busy knowing it all to ever learn anything

That tool is worthless for installing the springs! I have that exact same tool and tried it. By the time you pull out the spring enough to reach the clips, you have stretched out the spring and ruined it. The proper way to stretch the springs is to stick something inside the spring and stretch the spring from the inside to stretch it, and engage the clip already installed in the backing plate.fergrn37 wrote: ↑January 7th, 2022, 8:19 pmNope, wrong tool. Well, let's face it. Those little springs can be stretched easily enough if you manhandle them either by pushing OR pulling.
BUT
If you use the 'punch method' with the end of the punch against your palm you'll find that you'll get a lot more feedback on how much energy you're putting on that spring which is really the key to not over-doing it.
With that tool and that big tee handle you've got the strength of your whole hand, wrist and arm working on that poor little spring. NOT A FAIR CONTEST!
Cheers,
TJ
