I wish I knew you were selling a Mauser, I have been trying to find one to add to the old bolt actions I like so much.

Re: Activity
Best one was an old pre war FN mauser that the Israelis rebarreled in 7.62 NATO. They ground the markings off the receiver, engraved the Israeli crest and "7.62" on the receiver.

Re: Activity
this time of the year I'm using the 151 to run errants if roads are dry. Temperatures were around freezing today but the sun was out and the trip to the next hardware store is only a 15min drive.
Stopped in town at this spanish build Santana Landrover. That thing sits there since years and today I finally checked it out. Actually in relative good shape but interesting enough the body shows rust. So seems like it is not an aluminium body as Landrovers normally have (did not have a magnet with me...

Re: Activity
Didn't think I would ever say this here but it has become sad, I remember back in the day when anyone could post something and get a reaction from someone every time. Nowadays when something is posted, there is no reaction at all, it's like everyone is mad at everyone else, what is going on??. I don't even like social media but I posted a few pics on Facebook and within 24 hrs. there was 150 reactions, says a mouth full about the way we are headed. Hambone
Re: Activity
True, but the reactions on Facebook are mostly false reactions from what I have seen. And a lot of the people there are only there to instigate. You also have to keep in mind that if you are posting pics of the 718 then yes, you are certainly going to get reactions, that was a hell of a job. At least on forums you have people watching over them. And on Facebook try to find a post you put up a week ago. You might find it eventually but on a forum it is right where you left it. Most forums have had to go the subscription route just to stay alive. And people do not want to pay for anything in todays world. They want everything handed to them for nothing. Look at a former member on here that whenever he wanted something he would post for it and then he wanted everyone else to find it for him. He felt he did not have to do anything at all in the way of work, research, nothing. For the last 6-8 weeks I have been trying like hell to keep this place going without have to go the subscription route. I know damn right well that would fail miserably. I also know I cannot depend on donations. There was a spurt last year started by someone and as I figured it petered out in a few months. Right now there are only four or five members that come on here regularly. That's it.
You also have to remember that there are several people on those two Facebook pages that are actively trying to shut us down every chance they get. That is the only reason I go there is to try to catch that when it happens since the mod, or site owner, will not do anything unless prompted. Although I understand where you are coming from you also have to look at it from my side. It is very frustrating to spend all this time going back and forth with tech people who do not talk to each other and then tell me to change this and change that and recode this. Coding is NOT my thing!!! If it was I would have a job writing code somewhere.

Re: Activity
The main two forums I visit are this one and G741. I have not been a regular 503 visitor for many years. I rarely go to Steel Soldiers either.
Everything is quiet now...could just be the seasons.
The reality is that casual fans of military vehicles are totally satisfied with FB since its all in one place. But if you are looking for some info, the search there will make you use bad words. There basically isn't one.
There's tons of info hidden in the forums but after the image-aggedon from a few years ago, most of the post are missing the images. So you have to be clever.
I just wonder if we are getting to the point where there are fewer truck being restored due to lack of usable bodies. Plus we aint getting any younger. A lot of our club members are in their sixties and seventies and are done restoring.

You are making the previously unrestorable bodies have a second chance.

Re: Activity
I was permanently banned from the 741 because of a member there selling me some parts which he told me were NOS and they turned out to be very, VERY far from it. A carburetor that his grandfather had rebuilt and a starter that was used and abused that came from a well know used parts place out there. I paid 500.00 for those used NOS parts! I wanted my money back, didn't happen. Well, It turns out this very young member was a close friend of one of the main mods there so they took aim at me and after I questioned a part that John Bizal was selling, A question directed to John at that, I was banned. Even John could not figure out what was going on and asked them to reinstate me. Nope, gone. John has since told me that that forum is not doing all that well. I wonder why? It's a shame since I had some good contacts on there for M37 info and lost all of that info and contacts. They would not even let me get my contacts back.

Hmm...that's a shame. They have about the same activity level as we do here.

Re: Activity
They just have the same problem as a lot of other sites, overzealous mods with too much power. Or should I say Mods that like to abuse their power. I will take no banning action without discussing it amongst the other mods first.

Yes, I am either in or was formerly a member of fairly large FB groups which became run by the yatzees when they got to a certain size. It's like the founder does not care what happens.
