Military Police Markings

Unread post by m75 » May 10th, 2023, 9:54 am

I have a set of the MP markings from Rick Larsen that I purchased a few years back, and it's close to the time to use them.

The TB for markings gives the windshield signage dimensions as 5" x 36", 16 ga metal, attached with sheet metal screws. This might have worked with A1s, but the windshield wipers for the A2 would be in the middle of the piece. Any ideas on how to best attach this windshield sign?

I already have an original spare tire cover, but the TB gives no real reference as to how to secure this to the spare wheel. Any ideas or better yet, photos to provide a bit o' guidance?

I also have the Federal siren for the right fender, and a NOS 24v red lamp, but not clear how to mount the lamp.

jim, if it is helpful, i have pics of how we marked them in viet nam, and how i marked my A1 back when i had it. rick has permission to give you my email address if you want to see them. that way i can send you quite a few at once. i can also explain how we installed the rear spare tire cover, if you wish.

Jim and Ron, If you look under the persons name to the right you will see "contact". click on that box and it gives you the option of emailing the person or sending a PM. The e-mail initially goes through the website so the sender does not see your address but when you receive the e-mail you will get it from the senders e-mail and then you can reply from your e-mail as normal and continue with regular e-mails after that.

Hey guys,
Did anybody come up with any info on the MP marking and tire sign? I have an A2 with the windshield wiper cover that I painted white, then stenciled Military Police with a Rick Larson stencil.
Also, I would like to see a simple method for mounting the rear tire MP sign.

Did you get hold of Ron about the tire sign? And I thought you were going with the windshield placard like in the pic from that link I put up?

Finally got around to applying the MP markings purchased from Rick Larsen 4.5 years ago. They were still sealed in the shipping box, and worked as advertised when following the included directions. Body paint arrives next week, so it looks like this is finally coming together.

The disc was an original MP take-off item. Had two layers of MILITARY POLICE lettering, the top one being the solid white disc vinyl marking that was available through the division self service supply center, with the lettering already there, just a 16" vinyl decal! Beneath it were the letters from the first application. Reverse side still has field drab color and black MP lettering, but in poor condition.

Rick,

I missed your reply post on Saturday. I got the diagram from Ron on mounting the spare tire disc.

For the front sign, I did the placard style that you had mentioned and it was held on with magnets. Then found an extra windshield wiper cover and used the Rick Larsen MP stencil. Both styles look good but the magnets are quicker.
Thanks for all the help.
